HCMF welcomes internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble VOCES8 for a special collaborative concert bringing together professional musicians, emerging artists from Hawaiʻi, and world-class choral music.

Praised for their “perfect blend of calm contentment and soaring spirit” by The Independent, the Grammy-nominated ensemble has performed in concert halls around the world, bringing the sound of eight voices to audiences of all ages.

The first half features Mozart’s iconic String Quintet in C minor, K. 406, performed by professional musicians alongside young artists from Hawaiʻi. Supporting the next generation of musicians is central to HCMF’s mission, and this performance reflects the festival’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young artists to learn from and perform alongside established professionals.

In the second half, VOCES8 presents selections from Devotions, a program exploring the many dimensions of the human experience through choral music, from prayer and contemplation to longing, grief, wonder, and love. Spanning centuries of repertoire, the selections range from the luminous polyphony of Renaissance composers to the distinctive voices of contemporary choral music, with music from Gibbons & Tallis, Rachmaninoff & Mendelssohn, to Caroline Shaw & Kate Rusby.

Together, these two programs offer an evening of musical collaboration across generations, traditions, and styles.

Mahalo to Barry Wenger and the Lutheran Church of Honolulu for hosting this special event.
