Hawaiʻi Chamber Music Festival’s 7th Season Takes Flight: Ellen Masaki Ohana Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HONOLULU, HI — The Hawaiʻi Chamber Music Festival (HCMF) proudly presents its 7th season, the Ellen Masaki Ohana Series, sponsored by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, from June 14–22, 2025. This year’s theme, Cultural Celebrations, promises non-stop music paired with non-stop aloha, paying tribute to the vibrant local culture of the islands and bringing world-class musicians together for an unforgettable week of performances.

Named in honor of beloved and renowned piano teacher Ellen Masaki, whose dedication to music education shaped generations of musicians, this series continues her legacy by fostering excellence and community through music.

The festival takes off on June 14 at Orvis Auditorium with Aloha Junction Trio!, featuring The Junction Trio—Artistic Director Stefan Jackiw, pianist Conrad Tao, and cellist Jay Campbell.

The music continues on June 16 at Kaimana Beach Hotel, where the Kaimana Quartet and friends perform an intimate seaside concert.

On June 18, An American in Paris celebrates the Parisian charm and elegance of Debussy and Fauré, with Mr. Jackiw teaming up with returning clarinetist Yoonah Kim and pianist Sean Kennard, alongside violist Hyobi Sim and local pianist Tommy Yee.

The annual HCMF Gala, A Sparkling Soirée, lights up June 20 at The Kahala Hotel & Resort, featuring the return of Hawaiʻi’s favorite, Matt Catingub.

On June 21, HCMF’s artists sing the Memorable Melodies of Mozart’s Magic Flute and Schubert’s Trout Quintet.

The festival reaches its grand finale on June 22 with Dynamic Duos, celebrating the fifth anniversary of the tuition-free Young Artist Program, featuring Zippy’s Young Artist Orchestra.

The Ellen Masaki Ohana Series is sponsored by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. HCMF is made possible through the generous support of sponsors like The Kahala Hotel & Resort, Kaimana Beach Hotel, Luxury Row Waikīkī, Zippy’s, Masaki School of Music, Treehouse Production Hawaii, Piano Planet, and more. Their commitment to the arts helps bring world-class chamber music to the Hawaiʻi community while supporting the next generation of musicians.
