HAWAII CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL & THE KAHALA HOTEL & RESORT TEAM UP TO CELEBRATE ORIGINS

The Hawaii Chamber Music Festival proudly presents an exquisite lineup for its 2024 Ellen Masaki Ohana Series, promising an unforgettable journey through the world of chamber music. Founded by the visionary Chris Yick and led by Artistic Director Stefan Jackiw, the festival continues to captivate audiences with its unparalleled performances.

The 2024 Ellen Masaki Ohana Series is themed "Origins," inviting audiences to explore the cultural roots of chamber music through a diverse range of concerts and events. From classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions, the festival offers something for every music lover. The festival also remains committed to nurturing young talent through its important tuition-free young artist program, providing local students with invaluable opportunities to develop their skills and explore their passion for music. The series kicks off with a mesmerizing opening night concert on June 13 at the Ho'okupu Center, featuring an all-women composers lineup with Erin Nishi, Shiqi Xu, and Zippy's Young Artist Orchestra. Audiences will delight in music by Maria Theresia von Paradis, Clara Schumann, and Queen Liliʻuokalani, setting the stage for an enchanting journey through the origins of chamber music.

On June 14, the festival presents "Elemental Potions," a unique concert experience at STAGE Restaurant and Amuse Wine Bar that pairs food, drinks, and music based on the five elements of the earth. This immersive event promises to tantalize the senses and ignite the imagination. Continuing the exploration of musical origins, pianist Sean Kennard takes center stage on June 17 with "Bach to Baroque," performing Bach's Keyboard Concerto in D minor at the historic Lutheran Church of Honolulu. Audiences will be transported back in time to the golden age of Baroque music in this unforgettable performance.

June 19 sees the festival delve into the romantic origins of chamber music with masterworks by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms at the University of Hawaii: Manoa Orvis Auditorium. This evocative concert promises to stir the soul and capture the essence of the Romantic era. The festival reaches new heights with its first-ever Secret Garden-themed gala event on Friday, June 21 at the luxurious Kahala Hotel & Resort, the title-presenting sponsor of the festival, celebrating their 60th anniversary. Guests will enjoy an evening of fine dining, live music, and enchanting surprises, all set against the backdrop of a magical garden setting.

On June 22, the Hawaii Chamber Music Festival presents a captivating performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, paired with cocktails representing the seasons at Luxury Row Waikiki, the official luxury sponsor of the festival.

The grand finale of the festival takes place on June 23, as Artistic Director Stefan Jackiw returns to the Lutheran Church of Honolulu to perform Mozart's celebratory Violin Concerto No. 5. This exhilarating conclusion promises to leave audiences inspired and uplifted.
